The Egyptians are one of the most well known Ancient Civilizations. They left a great amount of artifacts and clues for people to learn about them. The Egyptians are credited with creating the 365 day calendar that is still in use today. It is very difficult to imagine a world with a different calendar isn't it. The Egyptians are credited with creating a number system based on 10 and also created fractions. Another great innovation was the use of papyrus. In that word, you see the beginnings of the word paper. Papyrus was used to make paper for writing. This great innovations would be the foundation for written records. The final innovation or contribution is in the field of medicine. Egyptian doctors were able to set broken bones, perform simple surgeries, and extract teeth.
